Explore Rotorua

Rotorua sits in one of the world's most active volcanic regions, peppered with natural hot springs, boiling mud pools and steaming geysers. Geothermal landmarks aside, this city of sulphur has a rich indigenous history. Home to several prominent Maori tribes, a visit to one of the Maori cultural activity places should be on your agenda, as should an excursion to the Polynesian Spa for an invigorating soak in its natural mineral hot springs.

First, our tour heads to Te Puia for a Te Ra Haka combo guided walk, where you can experience mud pools and geysers and visit the Maori Weaving School and Kiwi House.

After the Te Puia experience, the tour group headed to the Waimangu Volcanic Valley. Waimangu Volcanic Valley is the world’s youngest geothermal environment, with a unique history and legacy. Home to incredible geothermal features, including the world's largest hot spring, visitors are immersed in the stories of the Mt Tarawera volcanic eruption, its people, and the resulting dramatic landscape changes that created this unique thermal valley. Waimangu is also the final resting place of the Pink and White Terraces, the eighth natural wonder of the world.”
